Youth to DC
Sophomores and juniors!!
If you are currently a sophomore or junior in high school,you could win an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C.! Compose a winning essay and connect with electric cooperative-sponsored teenagers from all across the United
States next June for a week of learning about our national seat of government and our nation’s rich history.
Represent Mor-Gran-Sou Electric Cooperative at the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association’s Youth Tour to Washington, June 13 -19, 2008.
Here are the Rural Electric Youth Tour essay contest guidelines:
- Students entering the contest must be a junior or senior in high school in the fall of 2008.
- The student and/or parent or guardian must be served by Mor-Gran-Sou Electric.
- The student must write an essay, not to exceed two standard 8.5~ by 11~inch typewritten, double-spaced pages in length, on this topic: “We, as a state, struggle with a reputation of being remote, having only cold weather, and being less technically advanced than other states. Yet North Dakota is considered one of the best places to live in the United States. If you were North Dakota's spokesperson and it was your job to attract young professionals, families and new businesses to live in North Dakota, what would you do to change opinions of those who live outside North Dakota's border?”
- Essays may be submitted in either hard copy or electronic formats to Mor-Gran-Sou Electric. Electronic submissions should conform to the two-page, double-spaced guideline described above. Each essay must be accompanied by a cover page displaying the entrant’s name, date of birth, school and grade, parent or guardian’s name, address and telephone number.
- Essays must arrive at Mor-Gran-Sou Electric no later than Monday, Nov. 19, 2007. E-mailed entries should be directed to: jlmiller@morgransou.com; hard copy entries should be mailed to: Youth Tour Essay Contest, Mor-Gran-Sou Electric Cooperative, PO Box 297, Flasher, ND 58535-0297.
- Essays will be evaluated and the winner selected by impartial, qualified judges.
